Former and current ALP instructors Amy Camp, Mary Childers, Karin Evans, and Nicole Matos discuss one final question: When it is all said and done, what do we want our ALP students to understand about college writing? Writing as a skill, as a process, and as an act of revision are explored in this final segment.
Finally, the ALP Bingo Assignment Sheet is our favorite way to connect students to the college community. Students complete activities on a bingo card and reflect on them. Activities include meeting with a counselor, career services specialist, WRSA tutor, attending a workshop, and participating in an extracurricular event. Each activity requires a 300-word reflection, addressing specific questions about the experience.
The ALP Curriculum Guide is our student-facing website for our co-requisite English ALP Program! We included major topics and projects--including strategies for Academic Reading and written modes and genres including Narrative, Profile, Ethnography, Analysis, and the Infographic. On the Home Page, we included a few materials that help contextualize what a course like English ALP is really all about.
Our warmest thanks to all those who supported this project, particularly our Developmental English colleagues Dr. Karin Evans and Liz Adames; Instructional Technologist Lara Tompkins; Dean of Liberal Arts, Dr. Robyn Schiffman; Chair of the OER Committee, Dr. Lauren Kosrow; and the college's Provost, Dr. Mark Curtis-Chavez.
