The Freedom Native Plant Butterfly Garden is located at the upper (eastern) end of Alpine Groves Park, a short walk from the playground and parking lot. If you look closely, you'll see a variety of butterfies and moths, as well as their caterpillars during the summer. You might even see their chrysallae. You'll also see bees, wasps, and flies; they are pollinators too. You might even see hummingbirds! See the map below:
Another butterfly garden containing non-native/exotic plants is next to the Bennett House by the river. The garden provides pollinators with nectar, but because there are very few native plants in it, it does not supply the food that the butterflies' caterpillars need. The mature pollinators often fly from one garden to the other to feed, however, to breed they will visit the Freedom Butterfly Garden.
