When my preteen (Olivia, 10 yr old) said she wanted to start her own nail business, we didnβt rush out and buy everything. We wanted to support her creativity without overwhelming her β or our budget.
We started small with a Jodsone nail starter kit, a nail bag, tips, rhinestones, and brushes. It gave her everything she needed to learn, practice, and stay organized while building confidence.
As she grows her skills, there are things we hope to add in the future β like a manicure table, upgraded tools, and better storage. But for now, weβre focusing on learning, responsibility, and having fun.
Big dreams donβt start big β they start with showing up and practicing.π
Β These are the beginner tools we chose to help our preteen learn nail basics at home before upgrading.
Perfect for learning gel nails, curing polish, and practicing safely at home.
Keeps supplies organized and teaches responsibility and cleanup.
Great for learning shaping, filing, and design without pressure.
Encourages creativity and design confidence.
Essential for detail work and learning nail art techniques.
We chose a portable nail light so she can practice gel nails at the table, on the couch, or pack everything away easily when finished. Itβs simple, lightweight, and perfect for beginners who donβt need a full nail station yet.
Why we like it:
β Easy to store
β Budget-friendly
β Great for learning gel polish
β Works with beginner nail kits
Β These are items weβre working toward as skills grow and interest continues.
Creates a dedicated workspace and helps with posture and focus.
Helps improve efficiency and polish quality over time.
