Read about my basic training journey as I use the app myself to see if it passes the smell test!
Day One - The Run
Day Three - Core
Today was day three of using the Alpha Squad Basic Training App for myself, my arms are sore as well as my legs from day ones run. I'm glad I started with the stretch as my body needed it, now to the exercise. The core exercises were not bad at all and gave my body to kind of have a intense rest if that makes sense.
What I mean is that though the body is still being worked it's not as tough as back to back to back push ups. also doing the core training allows me to really focus on the body part being worked and not the military count of the reps. Well I hope this helps someone out there reading this and gives you a sense of motivation that if even I who created it can find it difficult at time means you are human so keep going and don't quit. Stay strong and tell a friend and create your own workout squad during your training, go ALPHA!!
Day Four - Smoke Time
All I can say is....AHHHHH!! The fourth day of the Alpha Squad basic Training App may be the most intense day yet and we're not even done with the week! It's jumping jacks, half jacks, abdominal workouts and I pushed the Earth so much you may have felt it shift a little. If your body is not feeling it after this then I don't know what will, I also shortened the rest time a little to make it a bit more challenging.
I truly believe if you keep with the training just like every soldier has done your body will adapt, have you ever heard this saying often said in the military? " We have to break you down to build you up!" well that's what the Alpha Squad Basic Training App is doing. I know it seems like it's a lot but stick with it and remember if thousands of men and women who have served got through this types of training exercises then so can you. Stay strong and go ALPHA!!
Day Five - The Run
Today was the conclusion of the first week of full on training and surprisingly I feel great! The run was definitely harder as I am still feeling the effects of the last few days namely my legs. I can say that I know that the exercises are not so tough but it's keeping up with the pace that's the real challenge but I am pressing on. I hope you are sticking with it and digging in deep as you will see the result's if you do. Well, that's my time so until next week, keep going, stay strong and GO ALPHA!!
Day Eight - More Running
Well today after a well needed rest over the weekend I'm back to continue the test of the app. This day is more running and even though it's still the same run time I still have worked up a sweat. It feels good to get the legs moving but I can see the work is real!
Oddly I feel better than last week when I started as the run was able to stretch out aching muscles from last weeks workout. I must say I look forward to the challenge and can't wait to continue the program, also I am glad to say that my wife has been on this journey with me by exercising along my side and this makes me realize that even though this is great for a single person it's better with a partner.
Well I will keep you informed as I keep pushing and progressing with the App, until next time.
Day Nine - Kettlebell Training
Today was the first strength training exercise of the program and it was not bad. The kettle bell training was challenging in it's own way if your not used to performing the exercises but the Drill Instructor was able to do each movement clearly to be the best example of the exercise.
I started with a light weight due to not being too sure how much strain my body would go through.
In the end it was not bad at all as we were both sweaty but feeling rewarded to finishing the exercises. Well tune in tomorrow as I keep pushing on and conducting my own test of the Alpha Squad Basic Training App, ciao for now!
Day Ten - Push Ups
Today was a real challenge as it was push ups and it made me remember something my first Drill Instructor said to us when we first began basic training all those years ago "We are going to do some many push ups were going to move the earth" and boy does it feel that way.
The diamond push ups are tough enough but by the time we get to wide arm push ups our arms are on fire. Even though the four count doesn't seem too bad if you straight count we are doing nearly 360 push ups in this go around and I must say that's a real accomplishment.
Let's keep pushing through (Pun intended) and strive on for greatness, until tomorrow go ALPHA!!
Day Eleven - Conditioning Drills
Conditioning Drills sound so sweet and easy but trust me, they are anything but. The drills are mostly exercises done in military training such as jumping jacks, mountain climbers and so on but doing them with the military 4 count is what makes it a real challenge.
Just when you think your done there is another set to complete before moving to the next. I love the drills because they simple but will give you a real workout. I feel like a superman and am excited for more as I am at the half way point for the first two weeks of training and my wife is still going strong right beside me so we are super pumped as we both motivate each other to never give up.
Well that's it for now, just remember to use the stretch video EVERYDAY before moving on to the next workout.
Ciao for now squad members and tune in tomorrow to check my progress and by the way, tell a friend and form your own squad to push and motivate each other.
Day Twelve- Running
Okay I am closing out the week with another twelve minute run and I got to say that it's getting a little bit easier, don't get me wrong as I still was sweating my tail off but the difference was I did not feel like stopping for a break or to catch my breath. I love the cadence songs as they not only tell a story but more important they help regulate breathing while running which is the most crucial to staying motivated. I know that next week's run time increases by five but I'm not worried as after this two weeks of not missing a day will have us ready to get busy. Until next week, ciao for now!!
