Geography:
1. Andean Highlands: Alpacas come from the high-altitude regions of the Andes Mountains. They live really high up, between 11,500 and 16,500 feet above sea level. That's way up in the clouds!
2. Grasslands: You can find alpacas in big, open areas called puna and páramo ecosystems. These places are like huge, treeless plains with only a little bit of vegetation.
Climate:
1. Temperature: The high mountains where alpacas live can be quite chilly. During the day, it might be nice and mild, but at night, it can get very cold, even freezing!
2. Precipitation: These mountain areas have two main seasons: a dry season and a wet season. Alpacas are used to the dry conditions but love the rainy season because it helps grow the grasses they eat.
3. Shelter: In the wild, alpacas find shelter from bad weather in natural spots like rock outcroppings. When they are domesticated, they often have cozy man-made shelters to keep them safe and warm.

Alpacas are domesticated animals that live mostly in South America. You can find them in the Andean regions of Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Ecuador.
