By Alon Boroda. Effective October 24, 2026.
This extension makes YouTube playback controls usable with side-by-side stereoscopic video. It also offers video aspect ratio, video convergence, and separate UI/cursor depth controls.
On www.youtube.com, the extension reads and modifies the current player interface. It uses the current video's title, stereo-format metadata, thumbnail storyboard information, playback time, duration, playback state and volume to provide its controls. These are processed in the current tab and are not sent to Alon Boroda or a developer server. When aspect correction is selected, decoded frames are drawn locally to a canvas; frames are not recorded, saved or uploaded by the extension.
The optional Odyssey activation setting and mouse-mapping preference are stored locally through Chrome storage. Video convergence, aspect ratio, and UI/cursor depth are held in the tab's memory and reset when the page refreshes. There is no developer-operated cloud account or extension sync service. Remove the extension to remove its locally stored settings.
YouTube continues providing the video and audio normally. Thumbnail previews use YouTube's existing ytimg.com storyboard URLs. Requests to those servers can expose ordinary connection information such as your IP address and browser request headers to Google/YouTube, under their own policies. The extension does not proxy this traffic through a developer server.
Automatic Odyssey activation adds an SBS marker to the existing video tab/window title while stereo fullscreen mode is active. A separately installed local Odyssey Stereo Controls helper can recognize that title and activate compatible hardware. The title, including the existing video title, is visible to local software that reads window titles. This extension does not install the helper, launch native programs directly, enumerate monitors, or send information to the helper over the network. Hardware detection and conversion belong to that separate application. Without it, standard SBS controls still work.
The extension contains no analytics, advertising trackers, developer telemetry or developer-operated backend. Alon Boroda does not receive browsing history, video frames, watched-video records, authentication credentials or playback activity from the extension. Data is not sold or shared for advertising, credit decisions or unrelated purposes.
Site access is limited to https://www.youtube.com/* so the extension can operate on the YouTube player. The storage permission saves the two local preferences described above. The extension does not request browsing-history, microphone, camera, downloads, broad all-sites, or native-messaging permissions.
