Welcome! My name is Ally Nagasawa-Hinck and I am a fourth-year mathematics PhD candidate at the University of California, Davis working with Jennifer Schultens. In 2022 I received a postbaccalaureate certificate in mathematics from Northwestern University through the NSF funded Causeway Program. I graduated with my BA in Mathematics from University of California Berkeley in 2021.

My research is in knot theory and low-dimensional topology, with a particular focus on knot mosaics and spherical knot mosaics. I am interested in combinatorial and topological questions about how knots can be represented, analyzed, and understood through discrete models.

When I am not doing math I enjoy playing guitar, hiking, crocheting, collaging, trying new recipes, and country line dancing.Â
