Risk Sharing Pool Compliance Audits - How can we help?
System Sweep
If your organization has been audited by FA and received a draft or final audit report that includes conducting system sweeps, we can guide you through best practices to minimize the impact on costs and resources. We can assist in setting up requirements for system sweeps and provide guidance on their execution. For example, the most common system sweep requested by RSP members is for premium adjustments. Often, members ceding risk to the RSP either overstate or understate the premium relative to the time on risk. It’s crucial to ensure that the data in the RSP portal aligns with your underwriting system.
Assistance During an Audit
FA schedules audits at the end of each year for the upcoming year. If your organization lacks RSP specialization, we encourage you to contact us. We can assist you in preparing for an audit and provide support during the audit, including reviewing the inquiry sheet FA auditors send to the project manager. This can help reduce findings, minimize costs, and improve your score on the Final Audit Report.
One best practice before agreeing to an FA audit is to request that the FA auditors conduct the audit in person at your office location. Remote virtual access allows auditors unlimited time to review files from the sample population, potentially leading to more findings and questions. According to the FA Plan of Operation (Article XVIII - Auditing of Members, Page 47), members are only required to provide access to the audit team as specified. Prior to the pandemic, FA auditors traveled across Canada to audit members in person, often resulting in more favorable outcomes for those members.
