Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor of Criminology at Hofstra University. I received my PhD in Sociology from the University of Washington in 2025.

My research explores topics at the intersection of criminal justice, collective action, and culture. It examines how people take collective action to resist or to reify structural inequities across race, place, class, and gender, with a particular focus on the criminal legal system and gentrifying urban neighborhoods. I use mixed methods to create and analyze original data sources, with an eye towards contributing to both sociological scholarship and policy debates aimed at ameliorating inequality. My research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, cited by policymakers, and recognized by the ASA's Sociology of Law Section (Best Graduate Student Paper, 2025) and the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (Early Career Workshop, 2023).

I also greatly enjoy teaching and working with undergraduate students. At Hofstra University, I will be teaching Theories of Crime and Justice. During graduate school, I taught at the City College of New York, CUNY and at the University of Washington. Prior to pursuing a PhD, I examined criminal justice policy at John Jay College, CUNY, the Obama White House, and Liberty Hill Foundation.

Outside of academia, I love biking, camping at the beach, enjoying other peoples' home cooking, playing Sudoku, and checking out live music (especially my husband's groovy shoegaze). Eu falo um pouquinho de português. Viva, Palmeiras!
