Hannah Barker
An animal lover from a small age, Hannah enjoys spending time with all animals; large and small, furred and feathered, scaled and exoskeletoned.
As a youth she participated in 4H with a canine group, learning about the care and training of dogs as well as competing in state shows. Horses have always been a joy of her life; she's been riding and caring for them for twenty years. In high school, Hannah was honored with training a young horse from his first rides to his first shows - which jumpstarted her career with horses.
She followed her passion for horses to college for a degree in Equine Science at Scottsdale Community College. A spark for learning and teaching kindled; studying closely with her professors and working as a teacher's aide in the stable classroom as well as with community outreach programs.
With opportunities to work as a stable hand, groom, barn manager, exercise rider, and instructor - she has experienced many different equestrian riding styles such as Jumping, Dressage, Liberty, Reining, Saddleseat, and Sidesaddle, as well as handling horses from backgrounds of all sorts, training, ages, and sexes.
A year as a Kennel Tech at a local Humane Society had many eye-opening experiences - seeing firsthand all the love and compassion given to homeless, neglected, and lost animals. Working with the wonderful organization to give each animal that came into their care all the love and attention, was a cherished job. She gained valuable experience in caring for dogs and cats of varied backgrounds, ages, and sexes.
Hannah loves to learn and share her knowledge with others whether it's about caring for animals, training techniques, or better understanding all aspects of animals. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new and be better for others.
When not snuggling with animals, Hannah is an avid reader, amateur graphic arts designer, and adventurer. If she can't be in the barn working with horses, or cuddling her cat, she hopes to be hiking in the woods with a four-legged friend.
