Doctor appointment, home sick from school
Please let us know about these things so we are not left unaware of why you did not attend. We plan practices with a specific # in mind, so it is important to know if we will be missing someone.
PLAYER/PARENT POLICY
It is important for players to communicate any questions or concerns to the coach. A player-coach relationship is very important when building a program. A lot of issues are resolved through communication. It is important that we hear concerns dealing with players from players first and not parents. If a conference is needed, we are more than happy to meet with player, parent, coaches and administration. Players must be present at all meetings.
Parents, please keep negative comments and opinions to yourself. We as coaches do our very best to help the athletes as volleyball players and humans. We give it our all and truly work hard every day to better the girls and program, while also ensuring them of lifelong memories and a feeling of support as a high schooler. We do not need hindsight comments or opinions at any point. Thank you for respecting this.
GAME DAY POLICY
All students must ride on the bus to all away games. Athletes must have a ride home FROM the games - there is no return bussing. We DO NOT provide bussing for weekend tournaments. The expectation for tournaments is to be there 30 minutes early. We also recommend doing a food sign up for tournaments. The schools will have tables set up (almost always) and are a spot for breaks and food.
All athletes must be in the cafeteria 30 minutes prior to the bus leaving. This is our study hall session.
All JV and Frosh athletes are required to stay for 1 Varsity set at home and away games. All home games will require line judges and table personnel - JV/Frosh athletes are expected to do this and should rotate each home game so the same individuals are not doing it every time. When JV and Frosh are warming up at home games, Varsity MUST assist with shagging. When Varsity is warming up at all home and away games, JV and Frosh MUST assist with shagging.
All Varsity athletes must attend the JV and Frosh home games, as line judges and table personnel are needed.
At home games we will run our mobile concession stand. Varsity parents are responsible for running it during the JV and Frosh games. JV and Frosh parents are responsible for running it during the Varsity game. A sign up will be sent out.
ACADEMIC POLICY
Athletes are expected to maintain good grades throughout the season. Everything is monitored through our AD and AD Secretary, so we will be made aware when someone is ineligible to play. We DO NOT expect this to be an issue.
APHS provides tutoring at “Jag Study” with NHS students and staff, and our study hall sessions are great opportunities to work on homework and ask questions. Also, 1 time per season, athletes can regain eligibility if they attend an academic coaching session and complete the required tasks with a Jag study teacher.
INELIGIBLE: 2 or more E’s make you ineligible.
PLAYING TIME POLICY
All playing time is ultimately the coach's decision and is based on several factors. Should a parent wish to discuss his or her daughter’s standing or betterment on this team, please give us a 24 hour notice and we will be happy to discuss.
These discussions must be face to face and your daughter must be present.
