How Titles are Selected

Selection Criteria

• Raise universal social issues relevant to community

• Be inclusive and reflect a diverse readership

• Lend themselves to sustained, spirited, and in-depth discussion (good for book discussion)

• Strike a balance between literary merit and appeal

• Publication date within the last 3 years that has not been widely read

• Be available by January 1^st of the selection year in the following formats:

  • Downloadable ebook and/or audio format that is available for purchase and circulation by public libraries

  • Large print, if available

• The same book cannot appear in more than one age group for All CT Reads lists. The goal is 12 individual titles each cycle.

• Desired, but not required, that the book have a Connecticut or Northeast connection
