All you need to know about PMP certification
PMP is a Project Management Professional course which is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). A PMP is an experienced project manager who is certified and trained to direct its team towards the project goal. They lead projects in almost every country without focusing on a particular domain. The PMP exam is based on PMBOK Guide, which is given by PMI (Project Management Institute) which is a course book from where the entire syllabus is derived. PMBOK contains 5 process groups, 10 knowledge areas, and 49 processes in a self-consistent form. It tests an individual’s dedication to project management and shows that they have knowledge and experience in handling challenging projects. The standard of Project Management Professionals is very high as compared to the other project managers. They have in-depth knowledge of ten knowledge areas.
Eligibility criteria
To get PMP certification, you need to have certain educational and professional experience requirements. You need to have project management experience of 36 months if you are a graduate and 4500 hours of work in directing or leading projects. Also, you need to have a minimum of 35 hours of project management education. If you have a diploma degree, then you should have a minimum of 60 months of professional project management experience, 7500 hours of work experience in project management.
PMP exam process
After gaining eligibility criteria, you can take PMP certification within one year of the eligibility period. Candidates can take a computer-based test at Prometric testing centers nearby. Areas that don’t have Prometric testing centers have the option to offer a paper-based exam. The candidates should answer 200 MCQs. 25 out of 200 questions are pre-released question so they are not counted on the exam scoring, hence the final score is calculated out of the rest of the questions. A total of 4 hours is allotted to complete the examination.
