Hayes released his self-titled debut album in 2011.[3] It reached number seven on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top Country Albums, and sold over 1.1 million copies. Its most successful single, "Wanted", sold over 3.5 million copies and made Hayes the youngest male act to ever top the Billboard Hot Country Songs.

Hayes started performing when he was 2. At 4, he began making appearances locally and on national television,[9][10] including Maury, Rosie O'Donnell Show, and the Nickelodeon game show Figure It Out, where he performed "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)".[11] American Songwriter writes that "Hayes received his first guitar from actor Robert Duvall at age 6"[12] At age 7, he was invited to perform for President Bill Clinton for a White House lawn party. At 13, he appeared on America's Most Talented Kids, a show hosted by Dave Coulier; he performed the hit Hank Williams song, "Hey Good Lookin'". At age 9, Hunter released his debut independent studio album "Through My Eyes" on October 8, 2000, under Suagartown Records and Louisiana Red Hot Records.[13] He released several more independent albums: Make a Wish in 2001, Holidays with Hunter in 2003, Honoring our French Heritage in 2006, and Songs About Nothing in 2008.

Hayes's debut single, "Storm Warning", released to radio on May 16, 2011. His self-titled major-label debut album was released on October 11, 2011.[21] He co-wrote every song, played every instrument, and along with Dann Huff, produced the album.[22] "Wanted", the second single, was released to radio on March 5, 2012.

Hunter Hayes: I'm doing great. I'm so happy. I've worked for three or so years on Red Sky, we finally put it out in April, and then I went on my first tour in, like, four years. It was a breakthrough tour in so many different categories for me just personally, professionally, performance wise, all of the above. And then I made the wild decision to take a month off, which I've never done. So I am just re-entering the professional world from a month of just celebrating and being in gratitude for all that happened on the tour. It went by so fast, but it also kind of felt like a lifetime because there was just so much to experience. So I'm in such a great place right now, and I'm enjoying it while I'm here.

HH: I love being vulnerable [laughs]. I enjoy a safe environment where I can be vulnerable, and I think that music has taught me that there are safe places to be vulnerable. [With therapy,] you can decide what you want to accomplish. You can decide if you wanna be vulnerable or if you wanna just talk through things. If and when you find the right person to work with or people to work with, it's totally your call. It's whatever you need it to be. And if people trusted that or understood that, I think there's a lot of [them] who might feel a bit more safe in trying [therapy] for the first time. Because there are no expectations, and you make the goals and you get to achieve them however works best for you.

HH: Honestly, I'm just gonna stick with the same subject. I really struggled for a couple of years because I was writing and turning in all these songs and my identity was very enmeshed in what I made and what a song did numbers wise. You also have to consider the fact that, for several years, most of my friends were people that were working with me, and not having a song do well and not being on the road all year meant that I wouldn't be around the people I really wanted to be around.

Hunter Hayes was sweet to take the time to talk with me before and after the show. He is incredibly talented, capable of playing over twenty instruments, and is humble on top of that! This show was another night in the books and one to never forget. Thank you to 99.5 QYK and City of Clearwater for your support and having me apart of the show. Most of all, thank YOU for continuing to support, share my music, and show up to these shows! You guys are what keep me playing and writing music, so thank you. You guys rock!

Memorial Park was packed with thousands of concert-goers Saturday afternoon as the inaugural Citadel Palooza got set for a night of music, featuring country star Hunter Hayes and several local opening acts.

Before Hunter Hayes started selling albums like crazy, he caught a big break when he was invited to tour with Taylor Swift. Since Ms. Swift has been known to date quite a few musical guys, Nashville Gab sat down with Hayes to find out if he and the country crossover star were ever linked romantically.

Hunter said he isn't exactly sure how "Wanted" happened as he just spoke the words "into outer space and we just typed everything we could think of." Later, he sat at the piano as the rest of the lyrics fell into place.

One of the youngest GRAMMY nominees, Hunter wrote, produced, and played every instrument on his GRAMMY nominated album Hunter Hayes. Hunter is also one of the few country artists to see crossover success on the pop charts as "Wanted" reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 and was the fourth highest-selling country single of last year with over 396,000 copies sold, Billboard reports.

His No. 1 record-breaking hit makes Hunter the youngest solo male act to top the Country Songs charts, surpassing Johnny Rodriguez's previous 1973 record when he topped the chart with "You Always Come Back to Hurting Me." Currently No. 3 on Billboard's Country Songs chart the song drops from it's No. 1 position preceded by Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" and Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

I'm the guy you want to ask about burgers, trust me, and there are a few good places in Nashville. There's Whiskey Kitchen's burgerit's one of my go-tosbut I love, love the burger at The Southern. That thing is intense! And the service at The Southern, they have been so good and consistently welcoming ever time I've gone.

I still haven't been to the Parthenon. I need to work on that. I really want to go to the whole Hall of Fame. I've been there a lot and we've gotten to do a lot of really cool things with them, but I've never toured the whole thing. There are a lot of restaurants I haven't been to, as well: I'm a big Italian fan so I'd love to check out some of the newer Italian places in town, like Rolf and Daughters. And I still haven't been to Husk.

I'm kind of spoiled. I've been to The Palm a couple times with all my music biz friends, and they are on it with their name-remembering skills. It's remarkable how well they remember me considering how little as I've been there. If I'm going to go on a date, I want to go somewhere where it looks like I've been there a lot, and it looks cool when you go to The Palm and everyone knows your name. Every once and awhile I'll splurge and go there.
