Once the Notecard has connected to Notehub, there are a number of requestsavailable for obtaining the time, location, and (on cellular-based Notecards)using the onboard GPS module for location tracking.

It's important to note that the location values returned by a card.timerequest correspond to the cellular tower to which the Notecardlast connected. This may differ widely from the physical location of theNotecard. For greater accuracy of location, you'll want to usecard.location APIs described below.

Cell tower triangulation is only available with the Notecard Cellular orNotecard Cell+WiFi and should be used sparingly if your device isbattery-powered, as it can add 1-2 minutes of connection time whenever theNotecard powers on the cellular modem to establish a connection with Notehub.

Wi-Fi triangulation is available with any Notecard that has access to aWi-Fi module (either on the Notecard or on a connected host). Unlike cell towertriangulation, it adds only 1-2 seconds of processing time, uses minimal power, can be nearly as accurate as a GPS-derived location, but does require additionalconfiguration (see below).

This request will return an object with the current triangulation configurationparameters, a motion field indicating the time of the last device movement, and time field indicating the time of the last triangulation scan.

The Notecard's cellular radio and GPS module cannot be enabled at the same time. When building a location-aware product, be sure one or both are in periodicmode and that you allot enough time for the Notecard to switch between cellularand GPS functions, which can take 1-2 minutes depending on the strength of thecellular connection and/or the visibility of GPS satellites.

The Notecard will not turn on the GPS module until it has made a successfulcellular connection upon startup to obtain the current time. Once the Notecardhas the time, GPS is available for use, regardless of the state of a cellularconnection.

In both cases, regardless of the periodic value, the GPS module will only turnon to update the location if the Notecard has moved since the last time GPS wasenabled. The seconds value sets the minimum interval at which the Notecardwill enable its GPS.

You may see several variations of the second message before the module obtainsa fix. Once obtained, future card.location requests include the currentNotecard latitude (lat) and longitude (lon) values, as well as the Unixepoch time that location was captured.

Great tip on playing on beat 2 is from Griffs friend Steve Travato, Griff sent out an email with a Steve Travato lesson, Steve gives a history lesson on where coming in on beat 2 originated. It works out great after hearing Steve explains it. You now know why you let beat 1 happen and then jump in on beat 2, many blues licks just fall into place!

You might also want to look into a Metronome App. I have one from JustinGuitars.com that lets you pick any time signature, and sound for the beats, and whether to use a different sound (also of your choice) for the first beat.

From the beginning of wanting to learn guitar I started piling up favorite guitarists that I wanted to emulate, and each and every one of them had this ability to do these fast flurries which makes the guitar sound so emotional when you are doing it right. I never liked Ted Nugent as a man but he had the ability to do this, Gary Moore, Jimmy Page, Vivian Campbell with Ronny James Dio, Shankar of the Scorpions, Warren De Martini of Ratt, Carlos Santana and a whole list more. These guys could really rip on a slow blues song.

Very good video, a good lesson, and a great explanation, and once again how important time is.

Paul

Perhaps he simply means he was formerly an active duty marine.? I have a question regarding counting while you play to stay on beat. I have trouble counting and playing at the same time. Sort of like chewing gum and walking at the same time I suppose. What do you do then??

very good griff but I feel u left out an important tip , too come back into time with the band one must know where the ONE beat falls do any bgu students kno hoe to tell where it is apart from waiting for a chord change which is difficult for me with only a few years of playing

another year gone by . my guitar playing is better then when i first started . I have been at it most of my adult life . still looking for the diffrent approaches to creating a solo and i come up with some of the most memoriable lics of all time . I have to say not only is timing important but having trained your ear is most important too. I can listen to most music and be able to copy it pretty much all the time and thats really cool. who said that the lower end of the guitar is dead real estate ah not so lots of stuff is there . its just not used alot .

Hormone changes that happen after birth may cause the baby blues. After delivery, the amount of the hormones estrogen and progesterone suddenly decreases, causing mood swings. For some people, the hormones made by the thyroid gland may drop sharply, which can make them feel tired and depressed. Not getting enough sleep and not eating well can add to these feelings.

Emotional issues are another possible cause of the baby blues. You may be nervous about taking care of your new baby or be worried about how your life has changed since the baby was born. These thoughts can make you feel sad or depressed.

Lack of sleep, relationship problems or stress can also cause the baby blues. Male partners also may have the baby blues because of hormone changes during and after the baby is born. Testosterone levels may drop and estrogen levels may rise in new fathers. Other hormones, such as cortisol, vasopressin and prolactin, may rise. All of these hormone changes can cause depression.

As with other forms of depression, SAD can lead to a gloomy outlook and make people feel hopeless, worthless and irritable. They may lose interest in activities they used to enjoy, such as hobbies and spending time with friends.

The life and times of the musician known as Bo Weavil Jackson are shrouded beneath a veil of mystery and obscurity; even his true identity remains an uncertainty. In fact, it would be difficult to know less about a person. He made six records, had a remarkably poorly lit photograph taken of him, and then disappeared into oblivion. This intrigue, of course, only serves to enhance his appeal as a bluesman, much as it might confound historians.

"This is a very, very high number of people who actually say that the change in time will give them some depression, some discomfort, some uneasiness," Dr. Petros Levounis, with the American Psychiatric Association, said.

"There are also people who are going to have a more severe form of this winter blues," Dr. Levounis said, "Feeling lonely, feeling depressed, stop having interest in the things that gave you pleasure."

He recommends spending more time outdoors even as the daylight hours decrease. Frequent outdoor exercise and taking breaks to experience the daylight are some of the ways you can ward off those winter blues.

As y'all know, I always have your back and am here to help you set yourself up for success this season. Keep scrolling for simple but highly effective ways to combat the winter blues and keep your brain and body happy!

Blues, Brews and Barbecue is the biggest summer bash in all of Western Wayne County! It's all about slick blues music, good ol' authentic BBQ food, and ice cold domestic draft brews. Sights and sounds are FREE OF CHARGE so bring your family and friends!

This show has given us the best and funniest two half hours of any show this season in "The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis" and "The Maternal Capacitance" (for which there was no blog entry due to illness).

I think this was the weakest episode since the two terrible January "Kwipke" efforts.

The problem was when there is too much Sheldon and not enough Penny, the show can get a bit unwieldy. I thought the parts of this episode featuring those two on the phone were by far the funniest moments.

Plus, they have spent some time developing Howard's character this season, but in this episode they ignored all that and made him back into his old cliched, annoying self. I especially didn't like him sabotaging his best friend when he was clearly doing so well (even if he was being a bit of a douche). Howard is getting some from Leslie Winkle. Poor Raj can't even get near a woman! Let him have his moment.

At the same time, melatonin production increases when nights become longer. Researchers believe melatonin plays a role in people with seasonal affective disorder. Our circadian rhythm releases melatonin, a sleep-related hormone, in the evening and causes you to feel sleepy.

Improve your sleep habits. Take advantage of the extra hour you gain on daylight saving time. Make sleep a priority by going to bed earlier and avoiding electronic devices before bed.

As a result it is very rarely used in the blues, and this is where shuffle time comes in. This is a very common blues rhythm, which is constructed by taking a beat and dividing it into three, creating triplets.

Understanding the basics of these rhythms, how the most common blues rhythms are constructed and the rhythm used in the blues shuffle will help to set you on your way to become a killer blues rhythm guitarist.

The Renasant Convention Center was packed with blues musicians, fans, and music-world luminaries on May 11th, anxious to see who would be the winners at the 44th Annual Blues Music Awards.
