Harrison recorded the following songs during the All Things Must Pass sessions but, until their inclusion on some editions of the 50th anniversary box set, they had never received an official release:[117]

On 27 November 2020, the Harrison family released a stereo remix of the song "All Things Must Pass" to mark the album's 50th anniversary. Dhani Harrison described it as a prelude to further releases related to the anniversary.[354] That same month, as part of its Archive on 4 series, BBC Radio 4 broadcast "All Things Must Pass at 50", a one-hour special presented by Nitin Sawhney.[355]

On 10 June 2021, the release of a 50th anniversary edition was officially announced for 6 August.[356] The reissue is available in seven varieties, from Standard vinyl and CD editions up to an Uber Deluxe Edition box set.[357] The most extensive editions contain 70 tracks across 5 CDs/8LPs, including outtakes, jams and 47 demos, 42 of which are previously unreleased,[358] and a scrapbook containing archival notes and track-by-track annotation curated by Olivia Harrison.[357] The Uber Deluxe set adds a 44-page book on the creation of the 1970 triple album,[356] along with scale replica figurines of Harrison and the Friar Park gnomes, an illustration by Voormann, and Paramahansa Yogananda's text "Light from the Great Ones", among other extras.[357]

Well, Bobby Whitlock does have a vastly different perspective on the album than I do. My review is based on the 24 bit hi-def flac files of the 50th anniversary release, not the vinyl. Whitlock does have a unique relationship to the album, but if he dislikes the remix I have to respectfully disagree with him, I find it an incredible improvement.

For this 50th anniversary edition, Paul Hicks came up with a brand-new mix of the original three-album set. This is the first time the album has ever been completely remixed. Much like the Let It Be Naked reissue of the Let it Be album from the Beatles, it appears that once again the aim is to either eliminate or minimize the production (or, as some people have said, the overproduction), by Phil Spector.

"This is the 50th anniversary of this record and I guess it's here to stay. It's here for you, this music is filled with hope and compassion and healing and rock and roll," said Olivia Harrison. "I want to thank the support of Universal, Paul Hicks for remixing this epic album, David Zonshine, Rachel Cooper, Darren Evans for his design work, but really Dhani Harrison, my son, for the respect and love he's always showed his father and the attention he's given to his father's music and career and legacy."

UMe President & CEO, Bruce Resnikoff, said, "We at UMe are honored to be entrusted by Olivia and Dhani Harrison to help preserve George Harrison's musical legacy and celebrate an album that is as important and relevant today as it was when first released in 1970. The Harrison's put their heart and soul into creating this extraordinary 50th anniversary release and have truly created the most immersive way to experience George's masterwork. Congratulations."

Released in August 2021 via Capitol/UMe to celebrate the 50th anniversary of All Things Must Pass, the 50th Anniversary Edition was met with worldwide acclaim and returned the album to the Billboard 200 where it debuted at No. 7. The album's additional charting achievements included No. 1 placements on the Top Rock Albums, Catalog Albums, and Tastemaker Albums charts and the No. 2 slots on the Top Albums Sales and the Vinyl Albums charts, just behind Billie Eilish on both. Upon release in 1970, Harrison's first post Beatles solo album was met by unanimous critical acclaim and spectacular commercial success, spending seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and eight weeks atop the UK's official albums chart. All Things Must Pass' return to the Top 10 marked the first time since 1971.

In 2020, George Harrison's son Dhani joined forces with Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin and the man behind the 50th anniversary editions of several Beatles albums. Their goal was to create nothing less than the All Things Must Pass that George had always wanted. To do so, they dug fearlessly into the original mix. There, they found the missing bass and put it back into the mix. They took George's vocals up several notches, restoring it to prominence. Where possible, they slashed reverb. In general, they remixed tracks in a way that allowed individual parts to speak both individually and as a coherent whole. The result is a flat-out triumph that's spellbinding to listen to.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, George Harrison's All Things Must Pass is being commemorated with a suite of new releases. The Super Deluxe Edition collects 70 tracks across 5 CDs including 47 tracks (42 previously unreleased) of demos, outtakes, and studio jams. Also featuring a Blu-ray presenting the main album in hi-res stereo, 5.1 surround sound, and Dolby Atmos. Housed in a beautiful slipcase with a 56-page scrapbook by Olivia Harrison and a replica of the original album poster.

Released in belated celebration of the 50th anniversary of George Harrison's solo mega-statement, the remixed "All Things Must Pass" is a feast for the ears. Hardcore audiophiles and Beatles historians will surely revel in the profundity of outtakes and production notes. Meanwhile, music lovers the world over will delight in the opportunity to revisit the Quiet Beatle's career-defining triple album.

The 50th anniversary edition (which is now closer to the 51st anniversary) comes in various options from a simple 2-CD set all the way to the Uber Deluxe edition, which comes with LPs and CDs contained in a wooden crate complete with books, gnome replications from the album cover, photos, and more trinkets to satisfy the biggest fans of the Quiet Beatle. The songs can also be streamed from the primary streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Dhani Harrison promises there's more All Things Must Pass news coming in 2021, including details of a 50th anniversary edition. "We've been digging through mountains of tapes, and they just kept coming - boxes and boxes of them. Making this album sound clearer was always one of my dad's greatest wishes and it was something we were working on together right up until he passed. But with the help of new technology and the work of Paul Hicks on this project, we are now able to make that happen. We can't wait for you all to hear everything we've been working on and your patience will be rewarded next year."

All Things Must Pass has been remastered before (for its 30th anniversary during the emergence of the CD era, for example), but this release takes it to the next level. While there are a number of different versions and formats available, the most premium version is an absolute must-have for any George Harrison or Beatles fan. 2351a5e196
