Bills Passed!
These bills passed both the NYS Senate and Assembly and will become law!
Child Care Provider Direct Deposit Act - This legislation requires all local districts across New York State to offer child care providers the option to receive subsidy payments via direct deposit.
Child Care Availability Task Force - This legislation extends and expands the Child Care Availability Task Force so that advocates, providers, and parents across the state will have a voice in evaluating the state’s plans to expand child care access.
These bills passed the NYS Senate, but did not pass the Assembly. Therefore, they will not yet become law. We will continue to advocate for these bills in the next legislative session.
Allowing Social Services Districts to Expand Child Care Subsidy Eligibility If passed, this bill would allow counties to expand child care subsidy eligibility to families earning up to 85% of the State Median Income. In NYC alone, this bill would expand access to an additional 15,000 families. Thousands more around the state would also qualify.
Decoupling child care subsidies from parents’ hours of work. If passed, this bill would give local districts the flexibility to NOT limit child care subsidies based on a family’s work or school hours.
All CACFP participating programs in New York State will receive the higher “Tier 1” reimbursement rates for meals and snacks from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. If you are not registered for CACFP, sign up today!
