Doosan Group was founded in 1896. The company started out as a store in 1896 in Seoul. Since then, Doosan has grown into a multinational, diversified business empire, with a particular focus on consumer goods, manufacturing and trade and construction.

Doosan has developed a new global growth strategy over the past 10 years, including Doosan Heavy Industries (formerly Heavy Industries, a heavy machinery company specializing in desalination plants) in 2001, Koryo in 2004, and Doosan Infracore (formerly Daewoo) Heavy Industries, a company specializing in construction equipment) in 2005.

In 2006, Doosan acquired a number of global companies, including engineering company Mitsui Babcock (renamed Doosan Babcock) and Kvaerner IMGB, the largest casting and forging company in Romania. In 2007, Doosan acquired a leading construction equipment company - Bobcat USA, the world's largest supplier of small construction equipment. With the US Bobcat acquisition of Doosan Infracore, one of the Doosan Group subsidiaries specializing in medium and large construction machinery, Doosan Group has become the world's seventh-largest construction equipment supplier (8th in 2016).

Doosan currently has 25 subsidiaries in Korea and 86 overseas subsidiaries in 35 countries. Doosan has over 38,000 employees (20,000 in Korea and 18,000 overseas) and a worldwide network of over 1,400 dealers.

In 1977, Daewoo Heavy Industries was established as a division of the South Korean corporation Daewoo. Collaboration with Hitachi launched the production of crawler excavators, which led to the in-house production of the Solar range after 8 years.

Doosan acquired Daewoo Heavy Industries in 2005, which allowed it to strengthen its position in the construction equipment market. From that time on, all equipment began to come under the Doosan-Daewoo brand. But in 2007, it was decided to promote the technique only under the Doosan brand.

It is worth noting that Doosan Corporation produces a wide range of products, from food and beverage products to engines, heavy equipment and power plants. The construction equipment is handled by the Doosan Infacore division.

Doosan Infacore is a global corporation with a wide range of industries and a network of representative offices around the world. As noted, the company acquired Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery in 2005, allowing Doosan to enter the construction equipment market. It all started with the release of Doosan excavators and front loaders. By the end of 2010, the South Korean company ranked 6th in the world in the production of earthmoving and road construction equipment.
