Module 3 focused on building community within an online learning environment. We explored the Community of Inquiry, a framework of presence that includes:

*Cognitive Presence
We also explored how we can use different tools to create and support community. Some tools that are important for the online environment are:
*Personal profiles
*Personal messages between teacher & student/family
*Discussion boards
*Group work
In addition, we honed our skills at designing and assessing a discussion prompt. A strong discussion prompt should not be a yes-or-no question, but a thought-provoking prompt that encourages students to think deeply and support their thinking.
For this week's discussion, you will explore the ethics behind keeping animals in captivity.
