Alive Inside at DePaul

Who are we:

We are a group of DePaul Students seeking to find a bond between music and health. We seek to help community residents in the Lincoln Park community by providing seniors and nursing home residents with the quality of music they. need to revisit the memories of their past. 

Alive Inside seeks to find an alternative from using traditional medicine and pills to bring the memories back to elderly patients specifically geared towards Alzheimer’s or Dementia patients. Regions of the brain incorporating music are one of the last remaining parts of the brain. The premise of this study is to utilize sound and music to observe the responses that people express after familiarizing it with them. Whether it is from the classical pop music that one listened to from the television from a young age to having a particular liking for a song, music has shown to possess the potential of retrieving memories of the past associated to it.
