I have created this topic to discuss general problems related to Insyde H2O bios unlocking and flashing, i believe H2O Insyde bios is a real pain due to built-in security signature thats why it requires special attention and treatment.
So basically for Insyde you just need to know the assembly instructions to get the bytes you need to edit (be a developer) or use the tool he linked.
That topic also contains info on the other modding steps we have taken (as you said, "unlocking/updating/modding/flashing")

all my attempts end up with "InsydeH20 - Secure Flash Error : Invalid firmware image!!!" or "it only supports to flash secure BIOS on current platform. the image to be updated is not secure BIOS"
no matter what values i put into platform.ini

In the absence of online updates being available my customer had contacted Getac and obtained a firmware update. These particular devices are well integrated with the firmware in that some of the software that runs on them can be part configured through the BIOS/UEFI setup utility. Regardless, the customer was given a single executable which when launched ran an interactive utility called the Insyde Flash Firmware utility. I understand this is used with a variety of other manufacturers too including Lenovo for some devices.
To suppress the reboot I see the following parameters but it appears the reboot should already be ignored. I see Action=2,0 which to me indicates once flash is complete do nothing. However, the device is rebooting. Have you tested with this at all?
I have an Aspire ES1-111M-C7DE whose battery is failing to charge. As a part of my efforts to remedy the problem, I am trying to flash the BIOS to 1.16. However, the InsydeFlash utility obtained from Acer's "Support & Downloads" page will not run the BIOS update until the battery is at least 15% charged. This introduces a "chicken and egg" scenario where the problem I'm trying to resolve with a BIOS update is directly obstructing the BIOS update.
I have extracted the ZHK116.exe file using 7-Zip and edited the Platform.ini in the archive to disable the battery check. However, it seems that the actual BIOS ROM image does not survive extraction and is unavailable when I run the InsydeFlash.exe utility from the extracted ZHK116 contents.
I am requesting a direct download link to the BIOS revision 1.16 ROM file to use with the InsydeFlash utility. Can someone please tell me where to find the ROM image in a form that is ready for copying into the directory that contains InsydeFlash.exe? Thank you.
If you really want to flash from Windows, I guess you could simply find any old Windows Setup bootable media lying around, press Shift-F10 to launch cmd.exe, and run it from there. Beats having to download and install ADK (which also requires administrative access to another computer running Windows).
Since @ayhcheung already verified flashing from within WinPE works, running a Windows Setup media and pressing Shift-F10 to launch the command prompt will likely be the most convenient way for most people, yielding the same result without having to download gigabytes of data and prepare any special WinPE version, since if one works, others are likely to work just the same.
hi, i have an hp 4420s probook with insydeh20 efi bios. i have already downloaded the bios but i cant see the platform.ini file. are there specific instructions for my notebook? hope you can help thanks
the method with ClearCMOS=1 or/and [FORCE Flash] ALL=1 will not work on emaschines 350 series. I haved tried windows and dos-flash method. The notebook ask the master & hdd password after the new bios flash.
Thank you for the trick ! I spent many hours to try removing the bios password on my ACER Aspire 5943G with cmospwd without success but with this very simple method it worked.
For my laptop, the bios updater is an exe which extract into C:WindowsTemp so you just have to run the bios update a first time and after reboot, got to C:WindonsTempWinflash to find the platform.ini and flash again.
Great job, I had gone through every other hack process. I almost felt stupid thinking Acer would put a security chip apart from the BIOS in their Aspire One netbooks. Everyone make sure to extract the .exe apart from the archive file for Acer bios, then execute the insyde .exe
I have been trying to perform Bios updates on many (old) computers this last days and I am facing an issue with the AT25DF641(A) chip (like in this intersting post -archive.com/flashrom@flashrom.org/msg07475.html but I did not find the answer I was looking for).

So, as I have a lot of blades using this AT25DF641A chip, is there a way to flash it properly (because it is reported to be working in the wiki) or should I carry on trying to create a RHEL5 PXE image and use the old tool ?
16. Sometimes after flashing the machine may appear bricked but turn it off remove power and battery and then reapply power and turn it on. If it still doesn't come up Google for the procedure to use a USB memory stick to get your computer back. Might be a good idea to prepare the flash drive before you flash your BIOS.

I have never hacked a bios but was ready and willing, finding the utilities and tools planning to follow your instructions. But whats even better, once I found this version of your post (its in several places with and without attachments), with your mod'd F.34 for C700 I just went with it.
