Alina Haller

About me

I am PhD Senior Researcher Habil. (CS I) at the Gheorghe Zane Institute for Economic and Social Research, Romanian Academy, Iași Branch. My academic career began at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEAA), "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, where I graduated with a degree in International Transactions (2002), completed advanced master's studies in International Trade (2003), and subsequently earned my PhD in Economics with the doctoral thesis titled "Exports - a factor of economic growth and development".

Parallel to my doctoral and early research work, I established a long-standing academic collaboration with FEAA, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, teaching Micro and Macroeconomics as an Associate Professor during the periods of 2006–2015 and, later, 2016–2023.

From 2010 to 2013, I advanced my expertise through a postdoctoral scholarship within the Romanian Academy, Iași Branch under the project "Knowledge Based Society: Research, Debate, Perspectives" (POSDRU/89/1.5/S/56815), focusing on the methodological analysis of liberalization, economic protectionism, and societal development factors.

Following my postdoctoral studies, I took on significant administrative and guiding roles; from May 2014 to August 2015, I served as a Mentor under the project POSDRU 133675 ("Innovation and development in structuring and representing knowledge through doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships"), coordinating a research team focused on "Emerging Markets - Trends in the Current Economic Crisis".

In September 2022, I achieved another major academic milestone by successfully defending my Habilitation thesis, titled "Considerations on sustainable economic growth from the perspective of determinant factors", earning the title of Doctor Abilitat from the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University. Shortly after, from June to September 2023, I served again as a Mentor at the same university within the POCU/993/6/13/153322 project ("Educational and formative support for doctoral students and young researchers in preparation for their integration into the labour market").

Throughout my career, my scientific activity has been deeply integrated into institutional frameworks and, as a researcher, I have authored or co-authored three books, coordinated over 25 scientific volumes, and published articles indexed in major international databases, focusing my contemporary research on macroeconomics, with focus on growth, development, sustainability, and international tourism.
