Armand and Rebecca serve as Administrators for the Village of Light Blind School Center in Togo, West Africa. Their mission is to strengthen and build the local churches by evangelizing and discipling the next generation. With their experience as educators, they are working to build relationships and reach the unreached using education, children's and youth ministry, and music ministry.
In Him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. The light shines in darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it. - John 1:4-5
THE VILLAGE OF LIGHT
The Village of Light is a school for blind and visually impaired students in Togo, West Africa. Students come from all over the country to receive an excellent education, compassionate care, and most importantly, the truth of the Gospel.
Our main focus is that each child that comes to VOL hears the Gospel and comes to know the love of Jesus. With chapel services, morning and evening devotions, and personal discipleship, the teachers and staff are continuously pouring into the lives of these children who are often seen as outcasts in their communities because of their disabilities. It is our prayer that through our efforts, each student will choose to place his/her trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and develop a personal relationship with Him while at VOL.
The school offers an education built on a Bible-based curriculum which meets the Togolese education standards, but also focuses on Scripture. Each student begins in kindergarten by learning Braille before going on to complete all the classes up to grade 6. After grade 6, the students may choose to continue on campus with the two-year workshop program which teaches them several skills that will allow them to start their own small business upon the completion of the program.
The campus provides room and board as the students live on campus during the school sessions. During breaks from school, they return to their families and villages, and many of them who have come to know the Lord share the Gospel with their families and communities. Their changed lives become a witness, reaching people and areas that are often times difficult for missionaries to access.
THE NEED
Right now, the campus is without a full-time administrator as we are currently in the USA raising the necessary financial support to return to the ministry in Togo. It is our goal to be able to return and fill this void early next year, before the beginning of the next school year. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us and ABWE in ministering to these blind students?
John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying,
"I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
