TRADITIONAL CAMERAS & FILM
In an era dominated by instant digital imagery, traditional film photography continues to offer a slower, more deliberate approach to visual storytelling. “Traditional Cameras and Film” explores the enduring character of analog photography—where every frame is carefully considered, every exposure intentional, and the final image shaped not only by the photographer, but also by the unique qualities of film itself.
Using fully manual cameras and a variety of film stocks, the project embraces the imperfections, textures, grain, and tonal depth that have defined generations of photographic work. Unlike digital photography, where images can be reviewed instantly, shooting on film demands patience, discipline, and a deeper connection between photographer and subject.
The process extends beyond taking photographs. From loading rolls by hand to waiting for development and scanning, film photography becomes an experience rooted in craftsmanship and anticipation. Each image carries a sense of permanence, preserving moments with an organic and timeless quality that continues to resonate even in contemporary visual culture.
More than nostalgia, the use of traditional cameras and film represents a commitment to authenticity, intentionality, and the enduring artistry of photography.
RETRO LOOK (Digital)
A photography session exploring the fusion of modern imaging technology and timeless visual aesthetics, “Retro Look Using Digital Camera” focused on recreating the character and atmosphere of classic portraiture through the use of contemporary lenses and digital tools. Set against carefully selected Art Deco-inspired locations and complemented by traditional wardrobe styling, the shoot emphasized authenticity and visual storytelling over heavily stylized trends often associated with retro-themed imagery.
The approach centered on achieving a natural cinematic feel—allowing light, texture, composition, and environment to shape the final images while maintaining the precision and flexibility of modern digital photography.
While portions of the project were also documented using traditional film cameras, the featured images offer an early preview of the creative direction behind the session, demonstrating how digital cameras can still produce photographs with a timeless and nostalgic character.
TRAVEL VIDEOS
Sumba is unlike any other island in Indonesia. It has completely flown under the tourist radar and has retained its soul. Here, ancient, colorful tribal cultures thrive, and nature is wild and varied. Few travelers find their way here. It takes time—but promise it is well worth the trip.
Sumba is an island in the Sunda Sea in eastern Indonesia. The island is twice as large as Bali, but only 800,000 people live here compared to Bali's 4.5 million. The number of visitors to Sumba is negligible—almost non-existent—compared to Bali's annual tourist numbers. Perhaps that is why the island has been nicknamed "The Forgotten Island.”
A trip to Yogyakarta (Jogja) to witness the Lantern Festival of Waisak Day led us on an adventure through the region's major temples and cultural sites. The highlight was the mesmerizing release of the lanterns, a sight to see and experience that left us in awe.
Despite the less-than-ideal weather, the beauty and serenity of the festival shone through. Exploring Yogyakarta and its surroundings provided a rich tapestry of history and tradition, making the journey unforgettable.
Throughout recorded history, mystical dragons have been integral to East and Southeast Asian culture. Unlike their European counterparts associated with fire and destruction, Asian dragons are benevolent beings, wielding water-related powers to shape rivers, control seasons, and influence weather.
As the region's revered mythological creature, it's unsurprising that Vietnam's iconic sights bear names inspired by these legendary winged beings, known as 'Long' in Sino-Vietnamese. The rich tapestry of dragon lore adds a profound cultural dimension to Vietnam's landscapes and traditions.
