Alien Logos
Wonderful things are created by things in different or opposing positions. Only by utilizing the characteristics of each individual can we create a harmonious and thriving world. Its implied meaning is inspired by the yin-yang theory, Heraclitus’s philosophy and Zhuang Zhou Dreams of Being a Butterfly by Zhuangzi, an ancient Chinese philosopher.
We live in a universe of the multiverse. There’s an alternative self in each of these universes. You don’t meet under normal circumstances and only connect to each other occasionally, where an alternative self (an alien) in an alternative universe comes to visit. You’d get to know yourself better through such connections.
The Fermi paradox indicates that aliens and humans couldn’t contact one another due to certain reasons, one of which is that we’re unable to identify them because of our great differences. But in fact, aliens are already among us, even though humans haven’t successfully identified them.
The human mind is complicated and the same also goes with aliens. From the perspective of an alien, humans are complicated aliens, too. So, let’s break the Fermi paradox and covertly find an alternative self (an alien), who’s close by.
Story
Story
There’s more than just a universe and there’s an alternative self in an alternative universe of the multiverse, who might have a different look and personality. Although you are far away and don’t have contact with each other, you have an influence on each other. Occasionally, an alternative self (an alien) shows up and visits you through a time tunnel, which only opens when numerous conditions are met. We don’t know for sure which conditions are to be met. A pair of socks, which you take off and put it somewhere, could be one of the most crucial conditions. There are other possible conditions, such as a hole in the middle of a toilet roll. When conditions are met, a time tunnel opens.Aliens hide and observe you at first, as they wouldn’t want to scare you. They send messages to you from time to time, just to offer assistance or inspiration. When they know you better, miracles would happen.
Why Phirosophy?
The real world is changing due to the influence of the virtual world. In the virtual world, am I who I really am? The question reminds me of Zhuangzi’s story—Zhuang Zhou Dreams of Being a Butterfly.
Was it Zhuangzi dreaming of being a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming of being Zhuangzi? Zhuangzi wondered if he was a butterfly that turned into a man, or a man who turned into a butterfly.
It doesn’t matter which one was real. He was a butterfly when he was one and he was Zhuangzi when he was him. Recognizing both of the world is a better way than arguing which the real one is. So, I think Zhuangzi had already talked about the virtual world 2300 years ago.
The metaverse will be more and more common and people will face the paradox of identity: which one is the real self? I think we can understand the existence of an alternative self in the virtual world based on the idea of the Axial Age by German philosopher Karl Jaspers.
There was a turning point for humanity to find its inner self.
About 500 BC, philosophical thought occurred in a variety of locations. Humans left the age of mythology behind and started to explore oneself.Without exchanging thoughts, philosophers around the globe proposed the idea of finding oneself inside out almost at the same period of time.
And now, it is said that the second time of finding inner self has come. The whole world is excited about the metaverse that allows us to understand the existence of ourselves in the virtual world.
Philosophies are generally considered obsolete studies. But in fact, it provides us with hints to understand a new world. New problems we’re facing in 2022 could be addressed through the inspiration of philosophers thousands of years ago. For instance, people are rejecting things that are different or non-identical from their beliefs, which is just the opposite of the yin-yang theory and Heraclitus’s philosophy. However, being in opposing positions could be an opportunity to understand one another, because we know that coexistence and mutual prosperity can be achieved by fully utilizing the characteristics of each individual and recognizing one another.
So, I hope Alien Logos to be an opportunity for everyone to have fun and learn about philosophies.
