Alien Language is a logic puzzle game that is free to play and supported by ads. This policy explains what data the app uses, why, and what choices you have. In short: the app has no accounts, never asks for your name, email or phone number, and does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or storage.
Your game progress (completed levels, score and XP, rank, badges, streak, daily puzzle results, transliteration and sound settings, and the ad history used to pace ads) is stored only on your device. We run no servers and receive no copy of it. Puzzles are generated on the device, so the game works offline.
If Android backup is on for your device, Android may back up this app data to your Google account and restore it on a new device. That backup is managed by Google under Google's settings and privacy policy, not by us. You can turn it off in your device settings.
Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes all data on the device.
The app uses the Google services below. Google collects and processes this data; it does not pass through servers of ours.
We show banner ads, full-screen ads after some puzzles are completed, and rewarded ads that appear only when you ask for them (for example to get a hint or a streak freeze). To serve ads, AdMob may collect:
the Android advertising ID, IP address, and device or app identifiers
device information (model, OS version, language, carrier, screen size)
ad interactions (ad shown, clicked, closed)
approximate location derived from your IP address
This data is used to serve and measure ads, prevent fraud, and, where you allow it, personalise ads. How Google uses it is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and https://policies.google.com/privacy.
To learn which parts of the game people enjoy and which are too hard, we use Firebase Analytics. Besides automatic events (such as first open and session start), we log five custom events:
puzzle_start: game mode, level, difficulty
puzzle_complete: mode, level, solved or not, attempts, duration, score
hint_used: hint type and mode
ad_shown: ad format and placement
daily_shared: daily puzzle number and result
These events contain no name, email or free text. Firebase associates them with an app instance ID and general device information.
When the app crashes or hits an error, Crashlytics sends a report containing the stack trace, device model and OS version, the app's state at the time, and an installation identifier. We use it only to fix bugs.
The app downloads simple settings from Firebase, such as how often full-screen ads may appear. The request carries an installation identifier and general device information; no personal data is sent to us.
This section applies if Play Games is enabled in your version of the app. Badges you earn may be sent as achievements and your total XP to a leaderboard. This uses your Google Play Games account. Your player name, profile picture and score may be visible to other players according to your Play Games profile settings. You can decline to sign in and still play the whole game.

Ad consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and other regions that require it, the app shows a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) on first launch. Ads are requested only after the applicable consent is given. You can change your choice at any time through the same form when it is available.
Personalised ads. You can limit them in Android settings: Settings > Google > Ads (or Privacy > Ads), where you can delete or reset your advertising ID.
Opt out of the advertising ID. In the same place you can delete the advertising ID. Ads still appear but are not personalised.
Analytics and Crashlytics. You can stop all of the collection above by uninstalling the app. To ask for deletion of data linked to your installation identifier, contact us at the address above with your device model and approximate usage time; note that anonymous data sometimes cannot be linked back to one person.
The share button creates text (result squares and a Play Store link) and a picture card. The card is stored briefly in the app's cache folder and passed only to the app you choose in the Android share sheet. We do not send it anywhere. Once you share it, it is covered by that app's policy.
We do not sell your data and run no servers that store player data. Data reaches only Google (AdMob, Firebase, and Play Games if enabled), which processes it as the provider of the services we use. We do not share data with anyone else, except where the law requires.
Data sent from the app to Google services travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Game progress lives in the app's private storage on your device. How long Google keeps data on its side follows each Google service's own settings and policy. No method of storage or transmission is completely risk-free.
Google services may process data in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Google applies the transfer safeguards described in its policies.
The app is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not part of Google Play's Families program. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and know your child uses the app, contact us so we can act on it.
Depending on where you live (for example Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law, the GDPR in Europe, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your data, withdraw consent, and complain to a supervisory authority. Because we hold no data that directly identifies you, most control sits on your device and in your Google account settings. For anything else, contact us at the address above.
If this policy changes, we publish the new version at the same address with an updated effective date. For material changes we will also say so in an app update or the Google Play listing.
