Emergence of the Caterpillar

I, Dr. Rose, have included this transcript and narration of patient #77106, also known as Alice, because in this visit I got to go in depth with the Caterpillar personality that resides in Alice's head. I thought it would be best to start off this series of transcripts and stories with the introduction of the Caterpillar personality because Alice and the Caterpillar have a very unique relationship. Overall, the Caterpillar personality is intelligent and moderately talkative.

*****Beginning Partial Transcript*****

Dr. Rose: Good morning, Alice, how are you feeling today?

Alice: I am actually feeling very chipper today even though the Queen of Hearts kept chasing after me last night.

Dr. Rose: Well, why was she chasing you?

Alice: She keeps saying something like,"OFF WITH YOUR HEAD." But anyway, I don't wish to talk about her today.

Dr. Rose: Well, my dear, what do you wish to discuss today?

Alice(Caterpillar): *Alice pulled out a pack of clove cigarettes and began to smoke* THE MUSHROOM OF COURSE.

***Doctor's Note: At this point in time I have now realized the Caterpillar personality has emerged so I now try to angle my therapy session towards this personality.

Dr. Rose: Now, Caterpillar, what exactly is the nature of your and Alice's relationship?

Caterpillar: I simply cannot have a relationship with a girl I do not know.

Dr. Rose: What do you mean? You must know who Alice is...

Caterpillar: Who are you? *with an exhale of a cigarette*

***Doctor's Note: I am used to the Caterpillar's tricky words so I hardly play into his short cold answers. I simply let the Caterpillar sit in silence until he wishes to speak and then he will normally tell me something more valuable.

Caterpillar: I suppose, if anything the girl and I are acquaintances. She is always so worried about how I will feel when I complete my metamorphosis, when she should really be concerned about her own self. I have only tried to teach the girl to keep her temper and grow into a nice young lady. She was very uncultured when I met her. She was always trying to recite "How doth the busy little bee" instead of:

How doth the little butterfly

Improve his gleaming wings,

And fly to the top of the sunrise

To see what morning brings!

How cheerfully he seems to smile,

How neatly he makes his home,

To welcome darkness in

No longer he will roam!

Caterpillar: Poor child could never remember the right lesson and would constantly mess up and then get angry with me! She truly is a feisty little thing. However, I have tried my best.

Dr. Rose: Well, Caterpillar do you ever feel guilty for making Alice angry?

Caterpillar: Guilty? Caterpillars can't feel guilt, my good Doctor.

*****End Partial Transcript*****

The transcript ends here because the Caterpillar personality submerged back down into Alice's subconscious. Alice emerged and had no recollection of the conversation. I wanted to include this interview because I thought it was essential to understanding the Caterpillar's personality. The Caterpillar personality causes stress for Alice because she is constantly trying to please him and engage in intellectual conversation with him. Alice finds herself constantly studying and learning more in order to impress the Caterpillar. After a Caterpillar episode, Alice also notices that she has spent all of her money on clove cigarettes and has a horrible headache.
