Alice Murphy

I am a postdoctoral fellow in philosophy at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) researching philosophy of science, especially topics that bring together philosophy of science and philosophy of art, including imagination, creativity, and aesthetic value. I also work on the epistemology of experiments, simulations, and thought experiments.

I am currently working on a project on Aesthetic Testimony in Science, funded by a Bavarian Gender Equality Grant.

At the MCMP, I teach courses on topics such as imagination, fiction and aesthetics in science, philosophy of art and creativity, epistemology, and feminist epistemology and philosophy of science. I also supervise BA and MA dissertations in these areas.

I received my PhD in October 2020 from the University of Leeds, and previously studied at the University of Warwick and the University of Bristol.
