NOTE: The story takes place in 3 worlds. A realistic storytelling session in 1862 Oxford, based on real history, which we see in scene 1 and scene 12 of acts 1 and 2, as a prologue and epilogue to the main play. These brief scenes use the characters of author Charles Dodgson, Robinson Duckworth, and the 3 Liddell sisters.
In story, we see Fictional Alice's reality with her 2 sisters (briefly in scene 1 of act 1 on a riverbank as Dodgson begins storytelling, and more in detail during the 3 drawing-room scenes after Alice has woken from dreams.) and Fictional Alice's dreams (Wonderland and Looking-Glass World). The dreams make up most of the play.
