Welcome to our classroom website!

In class, the students learned all about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, including the very inventive introduction of balloons by Tony Sarg in 1927! (Ask your student to tell you about the Sea Monster of Nantucket! It's an interesting story!!)

After researching how the balloons are made, children were tasked with creating their very own balloon. They coded their robots to follow the "parade route" and even show off in Herald Square! Enjoy our virtual parade!

Greetings from Mrs. Alicea

I've been teaching third grade at Gurganus for 16 years! The one thing I've learned is that every new year is a brand new opportunity to make loads of memories, friends, and experiences. I'm so glad we're on this journey together!

Families: If you are looking for ways to give back to your student's classroom, consider donating an item from our Amazon Classroom Wishlist! Everything requested goes directly toward creating an enriching educational environment. It's optional of course, but your support is always appreciated!

Parents: I've created tutorials to give you the basics on the learning platforms your student will be using. I know it can be overwhelming, but we've got this!
