Dreams of youth start with the doodles made on the margins of lined paper. Imagination springs forward against the grain of conventional, restrained formatting and strict pragmatism. Children escape into worlds in their mind of adventure, fantasy, action, and courage, expressing these wishful realities onto drawings made on surfaces designed to only contain rigid, conforming text. Likewise, many young adults living in the world as we know it hold identities and idealized versions of themselves that they aren’t presently able to bring forward due to physical or societal constraints. They are dreamers containing vivid colors while living in the shadows of the worlds’ binaries and structures. I cherish these people, their passions, and true selves through my digital character artwork, all of which starts where they found themselves, the whims of graphite on lined paper.
