Exhibit 5

This exhibit is actually a template I built for wedding announcements, this example includes images from Pixabay and I used the accent color red from the image with the shoes and flowers.

I wanted to challenge myself to do a wedding announcement with no script typefaces as well.

Design Elements:

Contrast - The main contrast in this piece is the white text against colorful background, as well as the color versus grayscale on the back

Repetition - I repeated the colors and typeface throughout the piece

Alignment - I center aligned the text due to the organization of the images. For the front, the couple is in the middle, so the text is also in the middle, otherwise it would unbalance the composition. Similar to that on the back, the best place for the text was in a strip across the middle, so centering the text seemed appropriate.

Proximity - The images on the back are right next to each other to create a sense of closeness, intimacy, and to avoid a separated and distant feeling.

Color - I decided to make all the images on the back Black and White to mimic the Black/White/Red image in the bottom corner. I think this pulled all the images together nicely and contrasted the red and the front better than otherwise.

Text - The sans serif font is Roboto Thin (Adobe), and the serif font is Modern No. 20 Regular (Fonts.com)

Skills:

Photoshop - Paint Bucket Tool, Square Shape Tool, Type tool, Black and White Adjustment Layer, Frame tool, Masks, Clipping Masks, Move tool, Artboard tool

Revision:

I decided to go back and revise this project based on feedback I received. Changes Made:

  • Made the large front picture Black and white to add repetition

  • Added red lines between the photos and around the first to allow for greater comprehension and repetition

  • Used both fonts on the back to add repetition

  • Added a comma after Sandy
