This explains how to open/connect an account and what commands to launch for automatic jobs execution. Pre-requisite is that you install the Telegram messenger as it is used to set up the bot and to manage it.
When you start the dialogue with the bot Cryptotrader_illi4_bot, it will instruct you that you need to:
You can write /start to the bot any time to receive the same instructions.
You will receive your userid in the answer to the /start command. Send it to the admin (@illi4 in telegram). This is still an invite-only project and you should be added to the system for a bot to start reacting to your commands.
You would need to open a practice (test) or live account on Bitmex / OANDA. The links are:
Note: If you have AUD account, jump to the section 3 (setting up your api keys). If you are not in Australia and your funds are not in AUD, you will have to open AUD sub-account and transfer your fund there. To do this, follow the video below showing the following steps:
Create api keys on bitmex with ‘Order’ permissions (leaving ‘CIDR’ blank, any ‘name’). Write down your key somewhere because you will need to provide it to the bot later.
Send the command /keys_update to the bot, then provide your key id and secret key. You will also need to select if this is a test account or a live account. It is highly recommended to use a VPN when doing this and then to delete the messages you sent to the bot containing keys after sending them in Telegram.
Note that the API key you get will be your secret key which you will need to send later to the bot. When you login to web trading platform, you will see your account ids for various accounts there (it will be something like 101-011-xxxxx…). Write this down as this will be your ‘key id’ which you will need to provide to the bot. Note: use the AUD account.
Send the command /keys_update to the bot, then provide your account id and secret key. You will also need to select if this is a demo account or a live account. It is highly recommended to use a VPN when doing this and then to delete the messages you sent to the bot containing keys after sending them in Telegram.
You can set up the margin level with the /margin_change command.
Note: Please look at the backtests on the 'strategy backtests' page to check what profits and drawdowns you can get on various margin levels. The higher the margin, the higher the drawdowns, and the higher is the potential return. At some point of margin, drawdowns eat up most of your capital and you cannot compensate this with extra returns. In other words, higher margin increases your risk of ruin.
Bitmex:
Margin up to x5 (including x5) has proven to be safe on backtesting. Anything above the margin of 5 may result in a liquidation and is not recommended for crypto.
OANDA:
For traditional account, margin levels up to x10 are recommended. Note that you should select twice as much under your account for leverage to work correctly on OANDA (otherwise, your position will constantly be closing).
To set up leverage on OANDA, log in under your account (open oanda web), click on ‘My account’, ‘Manage funds’, and ensure that 1:20 leverage is selected on your AUD account for x10 margin level (accordingly, it would be 1:10 for x5):
Fully automatic mode implies starting a task with the /auto command, specifying the platform and asset, and waiting for updates.
