If you've never coded before, or are new to coding, this workshop is for you!
Dave Webb will start us off creating algorithmic patterns using pencil and paper. From this familiar way of working, we'll then recreate the method in code so our computers can create even more elaborate patterns using that same method - the algorithm.

A live performance of piano music with beautiful accompanying visuals.
Neoclassical composer/pianist Larkhall weaves technology into his live performance through computer-generated visuals created algorithmically from his music as he plays, resulting in “vividly beautiful,” “enchanting” compositions (Hämeenkyrön Sanomat / Chicago Sun-Times).
Suitable for all ages. Book your free place here: [link]
Fri 1st November, Fish Factory Studios, Penryn
Algorave - dance to live-coded music and stunning visuals.
Norah Lorway is a pioneer of the Algorave scene, where music is created directly by code, written live as a performance. Not only is the music being performed live, it is also being composed live too! Join us to enjoy, not just the music, but the enchanting visuals that are generated in real time from the music too.

Make patterns with analogue electronics and digitally with code.
Stephen Amor, former Goonhilly engineer, will demonstrate how oscilloscopes work, and you'll get a chance to experiment with one hands-on. Recalling the early days of art made with electronics, we'll use them to make beautiful Lissajous patterns. We'll also learn to recreate the patterns using code.

Tutorial on creating incredibly intricate 3D worlds.
Brod Ross is a local artist with a passion for imagining and rendering worlds using fractals, infinitely detailed beautiful, and often organic looking, mathematical shapes. Learn how to use Mandelbulb 3D to create your own stunning designs, all rendered using algorithms that simulate how light and shadow works.

An exploration of the suprising beauty of mathematical chaos.
Physics describes nature using the language of mathematics. And that maths doesn't always behave in a boring predictable way - it can become chaotic! Hector Durham, a mathematician, explains how chaos emerges even in simple natural systems, and shows how visualising chaos leads to mesmerisingly beautiful images.
