Endolithic community of acidothermophilic geothermal red algae
Individuals who join our lab are passionate about discovering the hidden diversity within algae and investigating the ecological and evolutionary drivers that shape their communities and genomics. Algae are phylogenetically diverse, encompassing a variety of macro- and microorganisms that are not phylogenetically monophyletic. While our lab occasionally works on other groups of algae (i.e., Ulva green tide), we primarily focus on Rhodophyta (aka red algae). In terms of the potential factors influencing their ecology, we examine both abiotic and biotic factors in natural settings, as well as those influenced by human-mediated disturbances.
