The Defense and Rebirth of the

Baggin's End Co-op in Davis, California

In 2011, Baggins End, also known as the Davis Domes – a community of 28 University of California, Davis students living in fourteen dome-shaped cottages amongst gardens and forests, faced one of the biggest challenges in their 40-year existence.

Threatened with closure, the Domies rallied together and with the help of thousands of volunteers and supporters, they gained the support of other cooperatives, changed the minds of administrators, raised money, and fixed up the Domes.
