Our history

The Barn through time...

Built in 1590, the Alfold Barn has a rich history, with connections to the local area, including the Canadian Air Force during WWII. It was a tea rooms in the 1940s, and was a regular haunt of many airmen.
Up until the 1970s, the building was known as 'Gibbs Hatch', but to this day it retains the original barn's beams, thought to date back to the Spanish Armada.
The Maguire family have run the Barn since 2000. Fran, our chef, takes great pride in all of the food, using the freshest of ingredients and, as much as possible, local produce.
