Alfihri ("Alfihri," "we," "us," or "our") is a Qur'an and Arabic vocabulary learning application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Alfihri mobile application collects, how that information is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to users.
By using Alfihri, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.
You may use certain parts of Alfihri as a guest. If you choose to sign in or create a profile, we may process:
Your name or chosen username;
Your email address;
Your profile photograph or profile-image URL, if provided by your sign-in provider;
The sign-in method used, such as Google, Apple, email, or guest access; and
A unique account identifier provided by the authentication service.
If you sign in with Google or Apple, the provider shares only the account information you authorize. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your actual email address. Alfihri does not receive your Google or Apple password.
To provide lessons and track progress, the app may store:
Courses, lessons, words, quizzes, and games completed;
Scores, experience points, levels, streaks, badges, goals, and mastery progress;
Current Juz or learning position;
Language, Qur'an script, font size, theme, audio speed, volume, and haptic preferences; and
Other settings needed to personalize the learning experience.
In the current app version, this learning information is primarily stored locally on your device. Depending on your Android settings, the operating system may include local app data in an encrypted device backup or device-to-device transfer.
Alfihri requests microphone permission only when you choose a recitation or pronunciation feature. The microphone is used to:
Detect that a recitation is taking place;
Convert spoken Arabic into recognized text; and
Compare the recognized words with the lesson text to provide pronunciation or recitation feedback.
Alfihri does not intentionally save a permanent copy of your raw audio recording. However, the app uses Android's speech-recognition service. Depending on your device, settings, and selected speech-service provider, audio or voice data may be processed by that provider on the device or transmitted to the provider's servers. The provider's own privacy policy and account settings govern that processing.
Microphone permission is optional. If you deny or revoke it, the rest of the app can still be used, but microphone-based pronunciation and recitation features will not work.
The app may store a city or region you select for prayer-time and Adhan settings, together with the calculation method and notification preferences you choose.
The current version does not request Android precise or approximate location permission. Therefore, it does not currently collect GPS coordinates. If a future version adds automatic device location, Alfihri will request permission before accessing it and this policy will be updated.
When the app connects to authentication, Qur'an text, image, or recitation-audio services, those providers may automatically receive limited technical information such as:
Internet Protocol (IP) address;
Device and operating-system type;
App or browser identifiers;
Date and time of a request; and
Basic network and diagnostic information.
Alfihri does not currently request access to your contacts, SMS messages, call logs, photos, files, camera, or advertising identifier.
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
Authenticate users and maintain sign-in sessions;
Deliver Qur'an, Arabic vocabulary, audio, pronunciation, quiz, and game features;
Save progress and personalize lessons and settings;
Evaluate recitation and pronunciation when requested by the user;
Display prayer-time and Adhan settings selected by the user;
Maintain app security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability;
Respond to support, privacy, or account-deletion requests; and
Comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell or rent personal information. The current app version does not contain third-party behavioral advertising or use personal information for targeted advertising.
We do not share personal information except as described below:
The app may use the following categories of service providers:
Google Firebase and Google Identity services for authentication and sign-in;
Apple when you choose Sign in with Apple;
Your Android speech-recognition provider when you use microphone-based recitation or pronunciation features;
Qur'an content and recitation providers to retrieve Qur'an text, translations, or audio; and
Internet hosting and content-delivery providers that transmit app content.
These providers may process information under their own terms and privacy policies. They are permitted to process data only for the relevant service or as otherwise allowed by law and their applicable terms.
We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request; protect users or the public; investigate fraud or security issues; or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
If Alfihri is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.
Local learning data remains on the device until it is deleted through the app, the app's storage is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. A device backup may remain until deleted under the user's device or cloud-backup settings.
Authentication information may remain with Firebase, Google, or Apple while the account is active and for a limited period afterward for security, backup, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes.
Support communications are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and meet legal obligations.
We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
You may also:
Use supported features as a guest;
Revoke microphone permission in Android Settings;
Sign out of Google or Apple authentication;
Clear local app data or uninstall the app;
Manage or delete Android cloud backups through your Google/device settings; and
Request deletion of your Alfihri account and associated personal information by contacting us at [INSERT PRIVACY EMAIL].
Before completing a request, we may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Information may be retained where legally required or when necessary for security, fraud prevention, or the establishment or defense of legal claims.
Alfihri is an educational app that may be used by families and younger learners. We are committed to minimizing children's data.
Children should use the app with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. A child under 13, or under the applicable minimum digital-consent age in the child's country, should not create an account or submit personal information without verifiable parental consent where that consent is legally required.
We do not knowingly sell children's personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Microphone access is initiated by the user for recitation practice and is not intended for ongoing background recording.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child provided personal information without the required consent, contact us at [INSERT PRIVACY EMAIL]. After appropriate verification, we will delete the information as required by law.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Authentication is handled through established identity providers, and network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections where supported.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their device, email account, Google account, and Apple ID and should notify us if they suspect unauthorized access.
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. These countries may have privacy laws different from those where you live. Where required, we take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
Alfihri may retrieve or display content from third-party services. This Privacy Policy does not control the independent practices of Google, Apple, Android speech-service providers, Qur'an content providers, audio hosts, or other external services. Please review their privacy policies and your device/account privacy settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app's features, data practices, service providers, or legal obligations change. We will change the "Last updated" date and, when required, provide additional notice in the app or through another appropriate method. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise permitted by law.
