This is in a bar in France, specifically Avignon. Hoped to see the pope, but disappointingly missed him by 700 years.
Welcome,
I am a third-year PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh, working under the supervision of Prof. Mike Elsby and Dr. Rafael Lopes de Melo.
My research is concerned with firm dynamics and labour macroeconomics, specifically focusing on misallocation and notions of efficiency, and the interplay of labour market frictions and the accumulation of capital. I also work on developing models of heterogeneous agents in continuous time, an environment that often yields analytical or semi-analytical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
I completed my BEng (hons) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, which, sadly, contained lots of maths and little to no economics. However, I then completed the MSc in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics at the University of Edinburgh, and that was me hooked.
Outside of economics, I love cooking, I'm a big fan of the works of John Fowles, love a bit of Dire Straits, play the odd bit of rugby, and, when the perpetually inclement weather in Scotland permits, I try to play some Cricket.
