Purpose Statement: My name is Alex Kiyota, and I am a proud public leadership scholar at the University of Maryland, studying finance as well as operations management & business analytics. What I want to get out of my scholars experience is quite simple; to emerge a leader that people can trust. I want to become a leader that not everyone gets the chance to follow, because nowadays, there are far too many corrupt and selfish leaders. I want to learn the traits and skills necessary to fulfill any promise I make and to inspire others to become a leader as well. From my university experience, I want the skills to allow me to obtain a job where I can not only do work I value, but also make a living to a point where I can make life easier for my family. I want to come out knowing what adversary is and how to overcome it.

Phi Chi Theta
Being a brother of Phi Chi Theta has allowed for my professional development. It has given me additional tools necessary to obtain internships and jobs. I have also found a home in Phi Chi Theta and found so many friends that have supported me during my time here at the University of Maryland.
