This is a gallery of some of the self portraits I have done. It's a drawing practice I will probably always return to over the years. In this collection you will see drawings in colored pencil, and some in pen. Towards the end is a gallery of self portraits I completed during my first year at RISD under tutelage of instructor Tom Mills. The process I used to make that series was to first draw a self portrait with ball point pen, then with sand paper, sand away the image, and finally to draw again (as well as collage) back into the resulting image. Check 'em out :-) ~Alex Kalil
I'd add that in some way, any art created by an artist is a form of self portraiture, despite the subject or what form the artwork takes.Â
