Goal #1: To gain knowledge and experience in selecting the best method(s) for evaluating the What’s Next Initiative (MPH Foundational Competency #11–Planning and Management to Promote Health; Select methods to evaluate public health Initiatives)
Objectives:
1a: Collaborated with other youth of the What’s Next team to discuss Initiative evaluation details (e.g., what, when, and how Initiative is being measured; who is collecting/providing data; intended use of findings) and identify two best evaluation method(s) for the process evaluation.
1b: Collaborated with the organization/Initiative’s data analyst to determine two of the best data collection and analysis practices for the process evaluation (design only).
Goal #2: To communicate audience-appropriate public health content through writing and oral methods (MPH Foundational Competency #19-Communication; Communicate audience-appropriate public health content, both in writing and through oral presentation)
Objectives:
2a: Communicated audience-appropriate public health content (i.e., process evaluation terms and processes) to the What’s Next team through writing.
2b: Communicated audience-appropriate public health content (i.e., process evaluation terms and processes) to the What’s Next team through oral presentation.
Goal #3: To develop skills and gain experience in population-based Initiative design (MPH Foundational Competency #9-Planning and Management to Promote Health; Design a population-based policy, Initiative, project, or intervention)
Objectives:
3a: Researched and reported population demographics for the What’s Next Initiative population.
3b: Collaborated with the What’s Next team to develop Initiative goals and objectives, outcome and impact objectives, and activity objectives for a program description.
Goal #4: To gain experience designing evaluation methods that collect primary data (Community Competency #3- Design methods for collecting primary data to determine needs)
Objectives:
4a: Designed at least one process evaluation method that collects primary qualitative data.
4b: Designed at least one evaluation method that collects primary quantitative data.
Goal #5: To gain experience engaging youth of the priority population, partners, or other stakeholders in the What’s Next planning process (Community Competency #4–Integrate methods for involving priority populations, partners, and other stakeholders into the planning process)
Objectives:
5a: Engaged in discussion with my agency supervisor and/or team to discuss how and when stakeholders will be involved in the What’s Next planning process and report findings within the Initiative description.
5b: Identified youth of the priority population, partners, or other stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the process evaluation plan
