China sure loves its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. In fact, a major airline in the country, Juneyao, just received its 100th Dreamliner from direct purchase. The Dreamliner departed Paine Field in Everett, Washington, and landed in Juneyao’s airline hub in Shanghai, China.
For this blog, Alexis Fecteau describes China’s love affair with Boeing, specifically the Dreamliner airplane.
The first Dreamliner came to China over six years ago in 2013. Because of its fuel efficiency and high-quality passenger care, the airplane began its ascent to popularity. But it wasn’t just popular. The Dreamliner was a game-changer. Once it started serving in China, 13 new routes to major Chinese destinations were opened to the world. This had never happened before.
Today, the Dreamliner soars its way over 75 routes to and from major hubs in China.
Many aviation experts in China believe that the Dreamliner is the country’s airplane of the future, and expects there to be more orders in the coming years. Juneyao itself has been extremely happy about the results, which now allow the airline to fly to Athens, Greece, by the middle of this year.
On a more business-oriented note, the Chinese aviation industry fully expects to order a monumental amount of wide-body airplanes over the next 18 to 20 years, and the Dreamliner looks to be at the forefront of the purchase, Alexis Fecteau adds.
