I am currently a tenure-track research fellow at IBS Center for Theoretical Physics of Complex Systems (PCS) in Daejeon, Republic of Korea and also an associate professor at the University of Science and Technology, Daejeon, Republic of Korea (associated with my main position at PCS).
I am interested in complex systems which combine degeneracies, frustration and interactions. Examples of such systems include flatbands, glasses and frustrated magnetic systems. Presence of the above three factors makes such systems hosts to various interesting and exotic phases with unusual properties. I am interested in developing analytical and numerical tools to design and investigate models with degeneracies and frustration and understand their properties.Â
I list below my interests, education and subsequent career.
Interests
Macroscopic degeneracies in physical systems: engineering, properties and stability.
Flat bands: engineering and properties, effects of perturbations -- disorder, interactions.
Non-ergodicity and many-body localisation, classical and quantum (spin-)glasses, interplay of glassiness and quantum fluctuations.
Machine learning inspired approaches to quantum systems
Frustrated magnetism: geometrical frustration, exotic phases, effects of disorder, spin freezing and spin-glass phases.
Sphere packing in high dimensions: optimisation landscape, statistical properties, glassiness.
