I am an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of University Politehnica of Bucharest, teaching courses on Computing Continuum and Big Data Management. I am a permanent member of the MobyLab group at the PRECIS research center. My research focuses on the efficient data management support of AI workloads (ML/DL) on the Computing Continuum spanning from the clouds, fog to the edge. I am particularly interested in reproducibility and Federated Learning, with several contributions to open-source management and optimisation tools (E2Clab, KheOps) available on large scale testbeds like Grid5000, FITIoT and Chameleon Cloud. More recently, I have started to look into explainability of AI and support for Quantum Computing. This work is done in collaboration with colleagues from Inria (FR), Argonne National Laboratory (USA), and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (USA). I authored one book and over 50 peer-reviewed publications in major international journals and conferences. I served as General co-chair of IEEE ISPDC 2025 and served as a PC co-chair at several venues (SC’23 ACM Student Research Competition, IEEE ISPDC 2023). I regularly serve on the program committees of top-tier venues such as SuperComputing, IPDPS, EuroPar, CCGrid, Cluster, and IEEE Big Data. I co-chair the FlexScience workshop at HPDC (since 2015) and am a member of the Joint Laboratory on Extreme-Scale Computing (JLESC).
