Besides our professions and our social roles we are humans! We are co-existing in this planet and at least we have to take care of each other and of nature, our home. This is something crucial and very important yet we often lost in every-day life we tend to forget it. I choose not to!
Only some months after 18, and being barely an adult, i managed to join two Erasmus+ programms with the help of a friend. The whole national expeditions of those particular programms was consisted of highschool students. Except their teacher, me and my friend were the only adults, fact that led us to the role of Team Leader. And I'm very greatful for it because it was a great experience where I learned a lot. Last but not least, the engagment with other peaple from various countries and background I believe it was the most valueable teaching.
This was the first time I was truly involved in volunteering. After my one-year mandatory military service, and while I was facing the real-world situations of a grown-up and the uncertainty for my future, I joined Eterotopia Social Place. This was part of me finding myself and the roles I want to perssue as a human being and as member of a society. The Solidarity School was, and still remain, a great act of humanity and solidarity.
From October 2024 to this day, I still continue my disinterested work as a Volunteer Research Contributor via the platform of Zooniverse. The Zooniverse is the world's largest and most popular platform for people-powered research. This research is made possible by volunteers - millions of people around the world - who come together to assist professional researchers. The goal is to enable research that would not be possible, or practical, otherwise.
Similar to Zooniverse, SciStarter is another platform of citizen science. After my previous contributing experience and the realization of how important is even a timy amount of help from every one of us, I decided to broad my contribution also in SciStarter.
This platform has also another advantage. Through well-structured courses (suitable for experienced professionals to unexperienced civilians who want to help people-powered research) you can get educated about citizen science and how one can contribute.
