I am a Full Professor at the Research Center for Automatic Control of Nancy (CRAN–UMR 7039), Université de Lorraine, France. My early research focused on fuzzy logic and information processing, with applications to subjective evaluation methods for automotive seat comfort.
My current research interests lie in Predictive Maintenance and Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), with a particular emphasis on health monitoring of complex systems, prognostics, decision support in predictive maintenance frameworks, and the role of maintenance in sustainable manufacturing. I combine methods from fuzzy set theory (e.g., Choquet integral, Fuzzy AHP), artificial intelligence (e.g., deep and reinforcement learning), and knowledge-based reasoning (e.g., ontologies, knowledge graphs).
My research is strongly industry-oriented, involving active collaborations with SEW USOCOME, IFP Energies Nouvelles, Schneider Electric, Continental, Stellantis, Renault, ArcelorMittal, GRTgaz-RICE, Naval Group, and EDF.
I have held several leadership positions, including Head of the Dependability, PHM & Maintenance research group (2017–2023) and, since 2023, Head of the QLIO Department (Quality, Industrial Logistics, and Organization) at IUT Nancy-Brabois.
I have coordinated or contributed to numerous national and European research projects, notably as Scientific Coordinator of the Horizon Europe project MODAPTO and Technical Coordinator of H2020 AI-PROFICIENT. I also serve as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence (Fuzzy Systems section).
Academically, I graduated from EFREI Paris in 1992, obtained my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Université de Lorraine in 1999, earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification in 2016 through a project at Baccarat Crystal, and completed my Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) at Université de Lorraine in 2024.
