About me

I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Groningen (RUG) in the Department of Economics, Econometrics, and Finance. My research is in development economics with a focus on applied microeconomics. 

My PhD project examines women's empowerment in developing countries from different angles, looking at i) harmful social norms that perpetuate gender inequalities, ii) the role of women's empowerment in children's nutritional security under rainfall shocks, iii) how survey design choices shape measures of women's empowerment, and iv) the relationship between different women's empowerment measures as defined by Sustainable Development Goal 5. My work draws on both secondary data, using econometric methods, and primary data, collected through a lab-in-the-field experiment.
