About me

Interests:

Solving the problem of Active SLAM, or simultaneous planning, localization, and mapping. This problem often requires full integration of planning, vision, mapping, and machine learning modalities for complete autonomous behavior in robotic systems. I am working with a dynamically complex quadruped robot (ALPHRED, left below) and climbing robot (SCALER, right)

Past History:

I grew up in Austria (see pictures below) and went to Acalanes High School in Lafayette California. I then went to the University of California, San Diego for a degree in Bioengineering (cum laude). After graduation, I got a job as a Research and Development Scientist at CureMatch, (see pic below) and spend 2 years working there (results of my work is patented and also published). I gained research and engineering experience through two summer internships at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) in Cambridge, Massachusetts - I worked on creating a complete software infrastructure for the Unitree A1 robot, and implemented an auto-tuning framework for efficient motion planning for legged robots.
