About me

Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Alex and I am passionate and specialise about helping children with SEN to achieve their potential, both within education settings and at home. My experience includes being a SENCo, eleven years' teaching experience and broad expertise in the support of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across a range of settings. My work has involved supporting family applications for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), advising school leaders and SENCos, providing staff training at all levels and practical school management, and working with pupils, families and schools concerning a range of learning differences. I can act as a Parent Advocate when families are seeking to secure an appropriate EHC Plan with local authorities and when appealing to SEND tribunals. I have also worked as a carer for Special Olympics (South East Region) and organised and ran my own Special Olympics Football club.

SEN has always been a part of my life as my younger brother has a wide range of needs and has needed extra support and provision since birth. Having grown up as a part of a family dealing with complex SEN needs on a daily basis, I am able to provide support based on a deep understanding of the many and varied needs that may arise inside the home, school and wider community.

As an independent SEN adviser, I strive to meet pupils' learning needs by providing personalised strategies to be applied at home, at school, or both; designing interventions through termly Individual Educational Plans (IEP) as well as Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), and ensuring skills that support life-long learning.
